
Prof. Ibrahim Kamel is a Professor of Computer and Network Security at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Sharjah. He is also an adjunct Professor of Information Systems Security at CIISE, Concordia University, Canada.
Prof. Kamel got Ph.D. degree in computer science from University of Maryland, College Park, USA in 1994, M.Sc. in Environmental studies in 1988 and B.Sc. in computer science from university of Alexandria, Egypt in 1984. Dr. Kamel was a Lead scientist and a Group leader at Panasonic Information and Networking Technologies laboratories (PINTL), Princeton, NJ, USA managing several research groups in the area of databases and computer networking. Prof. Kamel taught at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, NY, USA, Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, and Zayed University, Dubai, UAE. His research interest includes multimedia systems, spatial and temporal indexing, smart appliances, and Internet security.
Prof. Kamel supervised several M.Sc. theses in Information System Security at Concordia University and University of Sharjah. He published more than hundred papers in Computer Security and Databases in international conferences and journals. He has twenty three patents filed in USA, Europe and Japan in the area of Multimedia databases and smart home appliances. Dr. Kamel chaired several international conferences and workshops like the International Workshop on Multimedia Information Retrieval 2000 and the International workshop on Mining Spatial and Temporal Data 2001.
